Induction Lighting - Benefits

The INDO Induction Lighting system has a recommended 60,000 hour service life (the INDO lamps can be run longer at the expense of energy efficiency). In a typical industrial or municipal application, that means you might have to wait 15 years before the lamp needs to be changed! As the visible light is created by fluorescence, the lamp operates at a relatively low temperature and is therefore exceptionally energy efficient, producing up to 150* lumens per watt.

The instant strike and re-strike nature of our induction lighting, has significant benefits from a security and energy perspective. Lights can be turned off when not in use, or there is no user activity. When motion is detected or lighting is required, they turn on instantly and warm up to full output in under 3 seconds.

Unlike the early induction lighting technologies, the INDO induction lamps are dimmable to 50% output. Dimming induction lights can be used to improve energy efficiencies, for example in tunnel applications, by monitoring exterior light levels with an adaptive control system and adjusting the internal light levels accordingly, energy consumption can be reduced by up to 20%.

As the electrons are continually accelerating around the glass tube, there is a constant light output and zero strobing effect. The strobing nature of high pressure sodium and metal halide lamps vs. induction lighting, is demonstrated in the video which is filmed at 30 frames per second. The continuous light from induction lighting, provides significant safety improvements when lighting areas with fast moving machinery.

INDO lamps are available in the same popular colour temperatures as linear fluorescent lamps and achieve a high colour rendering index of 82. Compare the INDO Lamp’s performance to standard metal halide lamps which only manage 65 to 75 CRI, have poor lumen maintenance and are rated at just 15,000 hours of service life. If you’re going to live with a lamp for 25 years, it’s important to have excellent light quality!
